Standard Poodle in general is happy, friendly and courageous, lively and active, never aggressive. Poodles love the attention! However they require a balanced daily routine that includes plenty of exercise, sufficient high-quality nutrition, and mental stimulation. If you are looking for just a couch potato, this breed is not for you. Standard Poodle is an active breed that loves to exercise and love to use their brain. Poodles learn things fast! Even the bad habits and therefore it is beneficial for the dog to have some boundaries or they will quickly become the master in your household. It is important to focus on basic training and with Standard Poodle it is usually fun and fairly easy as they are naturally eager to please.

Around the world, Standard Poodles are popular assistance dogs and companions for various sports. This breed is also well suited for its original purpose, hunting birds.

Poodles love their humans and are easily content just being close to them.

Coat care

Poodle coat grows continually and requires weekly maintenance and regular grooming. Keeping the coat tangle free is essential, no matter the length. Due to its size, Standard Poodle requires more time and effort for coat care than smaller variations. However, basic coat care is very easy to learn. Regular bathing and brushing goes a long way. Health

In general Standard Poodle is a healthy breed. Like any dog, poodles can get sick, even though breeders do their best to avoid all hereditary diseases. The use of healthy individuals in breeding is extremely important, but dogs can also become ill due to environmental factors. There are some allergies and hypersensitivities in the breed and there is not yet enough information about their mechanisms or heredity.

Size and structure:

Standard Poodle is balanced and harmoniously constructed breed that moves with flexible and light steps. The breed is not meant to be huge however different breed standards state the following about the size:

FCI:

45 - 60 CM

(17,7 - 23,6 in)

AKC:

Over 15 in - no upper limit

( 38 CM)

There is nothing “standard” in this elegant, and dignified breed. A Standard Poodle does not go unnoticed!
